I try every new season: I search and search for sneakers and the new ones always end up at the back of the closet in the spotless box in which they arrived at my house. There is nothing that compares to my usual sneakers, ones that I bought a few summers ago and that I usually wear only with the heat. But, of course, when one summer passes after another and I continue to wear the same shoes, there comes a time when it suffers.
That’s how the other day I realized that this time I was serious, that this time I did have to buy slippers to put on, not to decorate the shoe rack. I was walking through a field with pebbles and stones when, suddenly, alas: I noticed a shooting pain in the big toe of one foot. One of the pebbles was sharp and had been stuck in my foot. And he wasn’t barefoot, no: the sole of the old shoes is so worn that any ‘accident’ on the ground can be a danger to my feet.
So I got down to work and looking online (nowadays it seems that we are ‘forced’ to leave the physical stores with which it is falling) I have found vegan footwear that looks very good. Why that denomination? Because it does not use any animal product in its manufacture, betting on sustainable methods in the production of the shoes. Of course, all this has its cost that affects the final price of the product, but in these times, it is better to pay a little more and not continue destroying the planet, right?
However, good footwear, whether vegan or not, also has to satisfy aesthetic criteria. And these shoes that I have found seem to be the ideal candidates to replace my old worn out soles because they have a very cool design. And although what you see on the internet is one thing and reality another, I think I prefer this vegan footwear. I hope to put them this time, because there is no more room in the shoe rack.
